The Division of Gastroenterology provides diagnosis and
management of diseases of the stomach, duodenum, gallbladder, biliary tract,
pancreas, liver, small intestine and colon. Special interest of the Gastroenterology
section includes viral hepatitis, liver transplantation, chronic diarrhea,
mortility disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease. Comprehensive consultations
are available for inpatient and outpatients. The division offers special
procedures including esophagogastroduodenoscopy; colonoscopy with polypectomy;
endscopic retrograde chlangiopancreastography (ERCP) with capacity for
sphincterotomy, stone extraction and stent placement; percutaneous gastrostomy;
sclerotherapy of esophageal varices and coagulation of bleeding gastrointestinal
lesions with bipolar electrocautery and laser photocoagulation; endoscopic
ultrasonography; esophageal and biliary manometry; liver biopsy and small
intestine biopsy. |
